Heart&Stroke CPR courses for the general public

The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada urges all Canadians to learn CPR to be able to respond in an emergency. The Foundation sets the Canadian Guidelines for CPR, defibrillation and other aspects of emergency cardiovascular care in Canada. The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada offers the following courses for the general public.

Heartsaver CPR & AED
The Heartsaver CPR & AED course contains up-to-date content and science from the 2010 Guidelines for CPR and Emergency Cardiac Care.  The Heartsaver CPR & AED course is designed to teach lay rescuers the lifesaving skills of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and relief of choking in adults, children and infants. Automated External Defibrillator (AED) use is taught for adults and children. Training in infant and child CPR and choking relief are optional. The course is designed for those who have a duty to respond to a cardiac emergency because of job responsibilities or regulatory requirements. This course is open to the general public. To receive a course completion card, Heartsaver students must pass a skills test.

To sign up for a Heartsaver CPR and AED course, call your local Foundation office in your province

If you don’t have time to attend a CPR and AED course, consider buying a CPR Anytime™ Family&Friends™ kit. It contains a DVD and a mannequin and takes only 22 minutes to learn.
